Pertussis (whooping cough) on the rise in southwest Idaho

The number of people reported with pertussis in southwest Idaho during the first two months of this year has recently spiked. Cases include a newborn hospitalized for the infection, as well as cases from spread in a school, several households, and community settings.

CDH Confirms Local Transmission of Mpox in Ada County

Central District Health has confirmed local transmission of the mpox virus in Ada County. Since the two first cases of mpox in Idaho this year were confirmed on Nov. 2, four additional residents in Ada County have been diagnosed with mpox. Investigation is ongoing, but three of these new patients reported no recent travel.

IDHW and CDH announced the first two reported people diagnosed with mpox in Idaho since last year. Investigation is ongoing, but both persons reported traveling outside the state, which may be related to these diagnoses. Both people diagnosed with mpox are Ada County residents.
